What this page covers
"Cookies" is a loose term for several browser storage technologies. We'll explain what VitalDash actually uses, in plain language.
What we store on your device
We use localStorage, not cookies, for these. Same idea: small data on your device, never sent to our server (we don't have one).
| Key | Purpose | Sensitive? |
|---|---|---|
vd_prefs | Your theme and unit choices | No |
vd_profiles | Profiles you saved | Contains your inputs |
vd_history | Weight log entries you create | Contains your weights |
vd_consent | Your cookie consent choice | No |
All four are essential for the features they support. They're never sent anywhere. Delete them anytime by clearing your browser storage for this site.
What might be added later
If we enable Google AdSense, advertising cookies would be placed by Google. Before that happens, we'll update this page and the consent banner will offer a real choice (essential only vs accept advertising).
If we enable analytics (Plausible, simple Google Analytics, or similar), it goes in the consent banner first.
Third parties
When you load the site, your browser also makes requests to:
- cdn.tailwindcss.com (CSS framework)
- cdnjs.cloudflare.com (Chart.js library)
- fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com (fonts)
- images.unsplash.com (product photos)
Each may set its own cookies for its own purposes. We don't control these. Browser extensions like uBlock Origin can block them if you prefer.
When you click an Amazon affiliate link, you leave VitalDash. Amazon's cookie practices apply from then on.
Managing cookies
- Browser settings: every modern browser lets you block cookies, delete site data, or use private/incognito mode.
- Browser extensions: tools like Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin, or Ghostery give finer control.
- Re-prompt the consent banner: clear localStorage for vitaldash.io and reload.
Changes
We update this page when we add or remove anything. The "last updated" date reflects the current version.
